Dear Waterpool Traders and Supporters
As the 2013/14 trading year comes to a close, we would like to extend our thanks for your continued support over the last twelve months.
Your cooperative, which began its life in September 2012, now approaches its second birthday with increased enthusiasm and success. The membership base of Waterpool has increased markedly in the past twelve months (taking us to almost 700 members) and we have successfully traded 69,112ML of temporary water, an increase of over 11,000ML compared to last season.
Our Permanent Trade activity also continues to grow. Since July 2013, Waterpool has facilitated the sale of almost 7,000ML of High Reliability Water Share and 1,829ML of Low Reliability Water Share.
Although Waterpool is perhaps most well-known for its weekly Pooled Exchange, we continue to expand our range of available products, so as to best facilitate the needs of our members and the community alike. These include, but are not limited to, Forward Allocation products, Permanent Entitlement Lease and transfer of Delivery Shares. In recent weeks, our Carryover Protection product has been in great demand as we strive to assist traders at risk of losing carryover water to spill or the even worse scenario of losing the allocation completely. Needless to say, this is a major concern to water holders and here at Waterpool we aim to provide the best advice for each individual circumstance.
A key component of Waterpool’s ethos is providing education and advice to the irrigation community. We have attended Elmore Field Days as well as the WTC Expo in a bid to spread the word about Waterpool and encourage people to contact us with any and all water queries they may have. Our highly successful Road Shows will make an appearance again, early in the new financial year.
Our friendly and knowledgeable staff aims to offer the most relevant and up-to-date advice for all water queries and as a result, a positive and productive relationship has been established with our members and traders alike.
Waterpool faces into the 2014/15 season with great enthusiasm and a desire to provide our clients with a wider array of products and information. We feel that the seven guiding principles which distinguish a co-operative from other business structures suitably define Waterpool’s ideology and culture:
- Voluntary and open membership
- Democratic member control
- Economic participation
- Autonomy and independence
- Education, training and information
- Co-operation among co-operatives
- Concern for the Community
Once again, all the staff at Waterpool wish to thank you for making the 2013/14 season such a success, and we look forward to being of assistance in the coming year.
The Waterpool Team
